This one-to-one course provides pre-registration optometrists an opportunity to undertake a mock OSCE circuit of 20 stations based on the 75 GOC elements of competence. All four categories of OSCE stations will be examined including Clinical Examination and Practical Skills, History Taking, Communication and Data Interpretation. The one-to-one circuit takes approximately 2 hours followed by one-to-one feedback for approximately 3 hours. The feedback session will include what went well, areas for improvement including structure and fluency of performance and how to approach similar stations. Each circuit includes a VOLK manikin station allowing pre-registration optometrists to practise their indirect ophthalmoscopy skills before their final assessment. The course also includes a question and answer session giving trainees the opportunity to ask any questions.
A bespoke circuit to address weaker areas can be created based on previous OSCE attempts if pre-registration optometrists are on subsequent attempts. Please contact Optocoach for further information.
